The Region of Halton and the Ontario Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) are offering
a $1000.00 scholarship to encourage students studying in disciplines related to solid waste management and
environmental protection. This scholarship is in memory of Cliff Chan, the Director of Solid Waste Management for
the Region of Halton and a Director of the Ontario Chapter of SWANA until his untimely death in November 2000.

Lorna is currently completing her third year in the Co-op Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) program at McMaster, in
Hamilton. In addition to winning the Cliff Chan Memorial Scholarship, Lorna has been the recipient of numerous other
scholarships and awards, recognizing both her academic success and her community service. The Ontario
chapter of SWANA is very pleased to have Lorna as our 2007 scholarship winner.
